about the artist

Kathryn began her love for art at an early age, always drawing and doing creative things around the house as a child. Her first photos were taken using a Kodak Ektra 1 camera and her subjects were nature, friends and family and her Barbie doll or Matchbox cars. As she grew older she knew she wanted to be an artist and narrowed it down to the field of graphic design in high school.

She attended Queens College of the City University of New York on a full academic scholarship. While there she studied several aspects of the art field, ranging from drawing and painting to sculpture and photography, to give herself a broad art background. She was fortunate to have studied under the guidance of award winning artist Professor Reynold Ruffins. His influence and inspiration remain with her to this day. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

With over 13 years of experience in the field of graphic design she has branched out into photography as well. Kathryn has been selling her photos at several East End art shows and has a line of products featuring her photography on them.

Her study and love of the martial art, Tae Kwon Do, was the creative inspiration for her line of products featuring Tae Kwon Do Graphics. She earned her Black Belt in October 2005 and her 2nd Degree Black Belt in December 2008 and has traveled to Korea where she had the opportunity to train and compete.

As a former bride she has also created t-shirts, notecards, and a variety of products for brides and their wedding parties. Her inspiration comes from life.

Kathryn is also a huge animal lover and has two dogs. Her second dog entered her life thanks to a wonderful organization called Waggytail Rescue. This poor little terrier mix was abandoned in a building in NYC and left to fend for herself. Waggytail Rescue took her in, cleaned her up and gave her a new life with Kathryn. She is the sweetest, most loving animal and it breaks Kathryn's heart to think of the many other dogs like Belle out there who aren't as lucky.
